Faster, New Speeds for 2015

Residents of Eagle Mountain rejoice! 2015 is going to be a good year for all of us, starting with faster Internet.

Starting in January 2015, Direct Communications will be separating the marketing of DSL and Fiber products, in order to provide more competitive speed packages. When it comes to competing with wireless providers, at least in fiber-ready neighborhoods, there will be “no holds barred.” Nobody should be using slower, shared, wireless internet when a dedicated fiber optic line is available to your home. We understand that people often make decisions based purely on their wallet though, so we are increasing the customer value of all our packages, to make the superior product more attractive no matter what your budget is.

Customers can expect to see much higher available speeds, for less cost. For example, we will be launching a new economy package aimed directly at households currently using cheaper wireless providers, that will retail at only $19.95 a month (excluding taxes).

Speeds for current fiber customers will triple in most cases–customers currently on 8Mb will be automatically bumped to 30Mb for the same price, and an all new 1Gig speed package will become available to Eagle Mountain residents.

New fiber speed packages-available Jan 2015:

Download Speed Upload Speed List Price
10 Mbps 1 Mbps $19.95
30 Mbps 15 Mbps $29.95
50 Mbps 25 Mbps $39.95
75 Mbps 40 Mbps $49.95
150 Mbps 50 Mbps $69.95
250 Mbps 100 Mbps $99.95
1 Gbps 100 Mbps $209.95

All fiber customers will also be able to choose to go fully symmetrical (up and down speeds), for $10 more per month, although for now the max available upload speed will be 100Mbps.

What do you have to do to get these new speeds?
Sit back and relax–you will automatically be upgraded to the new speed for the same price you are paying now. Many of you may have already noticed your upgrade–we are moving through the accounts and upgrading each home as you read this.

How do I get my full speed?
Upgrade your router and hard wire everything. Most g/n wireless routers will only practically deliver around 30mbs to a smart device via wireless. In order to hit your full available new speed, you might need a new a/c router, and definitely hard wire (with Ethernet cable) from your router to your PC, Smart TV, or Media Player to take full advantage of your speeds. The airwaves are very congested in all modern homes, especially in young, vibrant, tech-savvy communities like Eagle Mountain, where everyone has a router broadcasting to multiple devices, and WiFi is simply not going to deliver the full 150 Mbps you are paying for. Hard wire. Hard wire. Hard wire. Call us if you need help hard-wiring.

If you are still on the copper network, waiting for our fiber optics to come to your house, please know that we are working as fast as our available funding and resources allow to get the whole city upgraded to fiber. Rest assured that while you wait, our copper network is the most comfortable way to live. We use 4th generation ‘VDSL’ technology to hit the fastest possible speeds over our copper network. Only Direct Communications provides true unlimited bandwidth with no data caps, or throttling.

We will also be increasing speeds for current copper customers, although the technology limitations on DSL will leave the ceiling at a 25Mb top download speed.

Copper Packages 2015

10/1 $29.95

15/1 $39.95

25/3 $49.95

The good news is we have secured outside financing for the new year, with the aim to bring in external construction contractors, to try to speed up the process of upgrading old copper neighborhoods in the Ranches to all new fiber.
