White Hills Ribbon Splicing Marks Another Milestone for Fiber in Eagle Mountain
Direct Communications & Utah Broadband Center Celebrate completion of White Hills, Utah Fiber Construction Project with Ribbon Splicing
March 28, 2025 | Eagle Mountain, Utah

On Friday morning, March 28, Directcom together with community leaders, state partners, and local residents gathered at the entrance to the White Hills subdivision for a ribbon splicing ceremony—a symbolic and technical milestone that marked the arrival of fiber-to-the-home service in one of Eagle Mountain’s newest growth areas.

Hosted in partnership with the Utah Broadband Center, and UBC Director Rebecca Dilg, the event celebrated the progress made possible through the Utah Broadband Access Grant, which helps extend high-speed internet access to underserved communities across the state. For White Hills, that investment is translating into permanent, future-ready fiber infrastructure built to serve homes for decades and
Unlike a traditional ribbon cutting, a ribbon splicing reflects what actually makes modern broadband work. During the ceremony, participants joined colored fiber ribbons together—representing the precise fusion splicing that connects strands of fiber inside the network. Each splice is a critical step in turning buried conduit and cable into live, usable service for homes and businesses.
Speakers highlighted the importance of long-term infrastructure in fast-growing communities like Eagle Mountain, where demand for reliable connectivity continues to rise. With more residents working remotely, students learning online, and households relying on multiple connected devices, fiber provides the capacity, reliability, and upload speeds that wireless and stopgap technologies can’t match.
The White Hills project represents another chapter in Direct Communications’ ongoing commitment to building end-to-end fiber networks the right way—locally owned, locally supported, and engineered for the long term. Rather than relying on temporary solutions, the White Hills build extends the same 100% fiber architecture that has been expanded throughout Eagle Mountain over the past several years.
Following the ceremonial splice, attendees toured the setup, spoke with construction and network teams, and marked the occasion with a group photo celebrating the partnership between state, city, and local provider.

As White Hills continues to develop, this moment stands as a clear signal to future residents: fiber is here from the start. The ribbon splicing wasn’t just a celebration—it was the point where planning, funding, and construction came together to deliver real connectivity to the community.
