Directcom stands with you during this health crisis.
To Our Valued Customers in Eagle Mountain,
Like most of you here in Utah, we are closely watching the latest reports from the Utah Governor’s office and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding coronavirus COVID-19. We are considering a number of precautionary measures to help protect the health and safety of our customers and employees, as they might apply to our particular service.
I suppose we are fortunate in the telecommunications industry in that all of our services are delivered remotely via digital light pulses, and not much face-to-face interaction is needed to conduct business. However, we are sobered by the knowledge that now, more than ever before, virtual communication, distance learning, social media and online entertainment are all going to be vital to our well-being as humans during this temporary health crisis, when social distancing and self-isolation might become the norm. We are dedicated to delivering these online services to you reliably and always at a good value. We take our responsibility very seriously as a public utility. We will strive to ensure that our services will continue uninterrupted during this health crisis.
We expect that as more of you are required to work from home, or stuck at home with only Netflix as your sole entertainment, there will be some additional bandwidth demand placed upon the fiber network here in Eagle Mountain. Rest assured that we will have the bandwidth to take care of your needs. One of the positives to come out of last October’s bandwidth shortage during the Disney+ launch is that the upgrades and planning our engineers have put in place since then have left us well prepared for a surge in current demand.
Since last year, we have added additional backbone bandwidth, and also installed a Google local content server in partnership with Google. This Google server essentially caches (stores) YouTube content, so that Eagle Mountain residents are no longer having to watch YouTube using the cloud, but simply pulling it locally off our network here. This will free up several Gig per second of traffic.
Our office staff has implemented procedures to sanitize high-touch surfaces with disinfectants in the office. However, as we have all been asked to all minimize potential virus spread, we highly recommend that you call us at 8017892800, or chat with us online where possible, rather than coming into the office.
Please remember that you can always pay your bill online by choosing “Manage Account†> “Pay Online†on our homepage at https://www.directcom.com/eaglemtn
We also accept payments in a dropbox in front of The Ranches professional building. They will be picked up daily. Or, set up auto payments through your bank, or mail us a check.
We are also educating employees on best practices as recommended by the CDC, and have asked any employees who are feeling any flu or coronavirus-like symptoms to stay home and practice self-isolation for 14 days.
Tech Support is always here for you 24 hours, 7 days a week at 801 789 4999. This is staffed by local Directcom employees in Eagle Mountain and in Idaho.
If you need to upgrade or add services, sales and customer service is available via chat or phone during business hours at 801 789 2800.
In the very rare case that you might require an in-home tech support visit, please let us know beforehand if you have any additional virus-related concerns, requirements or procedures that you would like our techs to follow.
If you or someone in your family is showing any signs of illness, please let us know before scheduling an in-home tech appointment so that we can take extra precautions to protect our technicians. Furthermore, if you know you are ill with COVID, or have symptoms, we encourage new customers to consider postponing or rescheduling an install appointment until you are symptom-free.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and are prepared to assist our customers as needed.
Please stay safe, stay healthy, and take care of your families.
