Using a Wireless Internet Service Provider when you have Fiber to your Home is like…
If you are still paying for Internet service from a wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) when you have the option of using the state-of-the-art fiber already installed to your home, you are holding yourself back.  You need to get up, call us and make the simple change to Directcom Fiber. It’s easy. Your life will be better. Your kids will be happier. Your Netflix will work better. Try it–you will like it.
Everyone knows that Fiber provides the best possible Internet connection. It’s also important to know that Directcom is the ONLY Fiber Optic Network in Eagle Mountain. We asked our customers in Eagle Mountain to provide some guidance to their neighbors who are still using a Wireless ISP, and this is what they came up with:

Why will you have a better streaming video experience with Directcom than with any other ISP?
- We don’t put a cap on how much you are allowed to download or watch each month.
- Our network is state-of-the-art fiber optic cable, specifically designed to stream high-definition video.
- We are a Netflix SuperHD partner, and Netflix has co-located within our Network to bring you faster access, quicker browsing, and higher resolution video.
- We offer unmatched speeds up to 1 Gig (1000 Mbps).
- We don’t throttle your speeds if you stream too much.
- We are the only fiber network in town. Wireless internet equipment simply wasn’t built to handle constant high-demand applications like high-definition video very well.
- Our speeds are consistent, and we typically provide the speed we advertise, not some “burstable†mythical speed that you can only get for a few seconds.
- Unlike wireless providers, your bandwidth is not shared with your neighbors, so you can all stream video at the same time and not be affected by your neighbors’ usage.
- Our all-fiber-optic cable backbone connects you directly to the national fiber backbone, with no wireless links inbetween.
- With us, you can watch multiple HD streams at the same time on different devices in your home without ever running out of bandwidth.
How Do I know if I have Fiber to my Home?
All subdivisions built since 2006 will be Fiber to the Home, plus many older neighborhoods which have been upgraded from copper to fiber recently.  All of the city center area is now 100% fiber. Most of the Ranches is already fiber, but it varies by neighborhood in the Ranches. If you don’t know if you are on fiber: call us at 801 789 2800, or Check out our fiber network map.Â
The easiest way is simply to look at our communications electronics mounted on the outside of your house.
If you have fiber optics to your home, you will notice an additional power ring around your electric power meter. This supplies power to the fiber power adapter/backup battery, which in turn powers the fiber optics electronics box, called an ONT. (Optical Network Terminal)
The traditional copper N.I.D. (Network Interface Device) is a lot smaller, simpler, and thinner than a fiber O.N.T., and does not require any kind of power accessories.

If you have fiber to your home, your setup outside may look similar to this:
(However, not all components will be installed yet if you have never had phone service with us.)Â Â In that case, you could look for the orange conduit stubbed out of the ground next to your power meter.
